About
Monica Montero is a journalist and visual storyteller focusing on migration, human rights and the protection of cultural heritage and traditions within communities. She is a Spanish-Korean journalist based in Spain and is fluent in English, Spanish and French.
She is the recipient of a Pulitzer Center grant which allowed her to travel to Calais in northern France to report on whether the United Kingdom’s controversial Rwanda Asylum Plan might serve as a deterrence to the increasing number of migrants who attempt to cross the English Channel.
She holds a master's degree with honors in Journalism from Columbia University where she specialised in visual storytelling. Her work has been published in Al Jazeera, El País, T Magazine, among others.
